Local work: a 20-foot double-swing steel security gate with spear-top pickets, closing off a commercial yard in Los Angeles. Built and installed by Apexguard Fence in a single day.
A returning customer in Los Angeles
About two years ago, we built the first iron gate and fence at this Los Angeles property off Athens Way. This summer the owner, Humberto, called us again — he needed a wider, taller, more secure entrance for the yard. We came out to measure and quote, agreed on the design, scheduled the install, and got it done in one day. Repeat customers are the part of this work we’re proudest of: the first gate held up, so they trusted us with the next one.
The new gate: 20 feet wide, 8 feet tall
The main entrance is a 20-foot-wide, 8-foot-tall double-swing steel gate — two 10-foot leaves that meet in the middle and swing in. At 8 feet tall with spear-top pickets, it gives the commercial yard a serious security barrier while still matching the look of the fence on either side. We hung it on heavy steel posts set in concrete footings so the leaves stay plumb and the gate swings true even at that width.
The pedestrian gate and cane bolt
Next to the driveway gate we added a 6-foot-wide pedestrian swing gate so staff can come and go on foot without opening the big gate. It’s secured with a cane bolt — a long drop rod that pins the gate into a sleeve set in the concrete. The cane bolt holds the gate firmly closed so it doesn’t swing or rattle, and gives a solid point to lock against. It’s a simple, heavy-duty detail that makes a real difference on a working commercial yard.
What the job involved
- Measuring the opening and laying out posts so a 20-ft double-swing gate would clear, meet, and latch in the center.
- Setting heavy steel gate posts in concrete footings, plumb and square, to carry the weight of two 10-ft leaves.
- Fabricating and welding the gates and spear-top fence sections on site.
- Hanging the double-swing gate, plus a 6-ft pedestrian gate with a cane bolt anchored into the concrete.
- Powder-coated steel finish, with welds touched up in matching paint for a clean, rust-resistant result.
Why steel security fencing works for commercial yards
For a storage or container yard, a steel spear-top fence with a matching swing gate is hard to beat: it’s strong, see-through enough to keep an eye on the lot, and tough to climb. Galvanized steel with a powder-coated finish stands up to the Southern California climate with very little upkeep, and welding the gates and fence on site means everything lines up and the security line reads clean from the street.
If you have a commercial yard, storage lot, or industrial property in Los Angeles that needs a secure gate and perimeter fence, we design it around your opening, your traffic, and how you actually use the space.
