Local work: White vinyl privacy gate by Apexguard Fence — tongue-and-groove panels, reinforced posts, and self-closing hardware. Serving Whittier and southeast Los Angeles County.

What the homeowner wanted

This Whittier home needed to close off both side yards — the walkways between the house and the neighboring property lines — with gates that match a clean white vinyl look, swing easily, and keep the back of the property private and secure.

Vinyl was the right call: solid tongue-and-groove panels give full privacy, the bright white finish never needs paint, and quality hardware keeps daily use smooth for years.

The detail that matters: reinforced gate posts

Most vinyl gate problems start at the posts. A hollow vinyl post will hold a fence panel forever, but a swinging gate loads the hinge post every single time it opens. That's why on this project we didn't just set the posts in concrete footings — we filled the posts with concrete and added an aluminum core inside the hinge-side posts that carry the gates.

  • Posts set plumb in concrete footings, then filled solid with concrete.
  • Aluminum stiffener inside each gate-hanging post so hinges bite into metal, not hollow vinyl.
  • Self-closing spring hinges and gravity latches in black, adjusted so each gate closes and latches on its own.
  • Both gates framed with top and bottom rails and solid tongue-and-groove infill for full privacy.

The result

Two crisp white gates that close and latch by themselves, hang dead square on reinforced posts, and finish off both side yards with a clean, bright look. Because the load-bearing posts are concrete-filled with an aluminum core, these gates won't develop the sag and drag that hollow-post vinyl gates are known for. The whole job — posts, reinforcement, panels, and hardware — was done in one day.

Project FAQ

How much does a vinyl gate cost in Whittier?

A standard white vinyl walk gate installed commonly runs from several hundred dollars to over a thousand, depending on width, height, hardware, and post reinforcement. Installed vinyl fencing runs about $30–$60 per linear foot. A free on-site measurement gives the exact number.

Why do vinyl gate posts need reinforcement?

A gate loads its hinge post every time it swings. We set the posts in concrete, filled them with concrete, and added an aluminum core in the hinge-side posts so these gates stay square and never sag.

Can a vinyl gate be installed in one day?

Often yes. Both gates on this project — posts, reinforcement, panels, and self-closing hardware — were finished the same day.
